Museums
Speaking of history, the best place to start any trip in Atlanta is with a visit to the beloved Martin Luther King Jr. National Historical Park. Immerse yourself in the place that gave birth to the infamous civil rights leader. Walk in his footsteps and see where he grew up and played as a child. Visit the church where he gave speeches that inspired thousands and where his dreams started to come to fruition. The most wonderful part of it all is that this entire historical site is free to enter. If you’re more of a modern soul, consider visiting the High Museum of Art. This museum is known for its diverse art collection and modern architecture by Richard Meier and Renzo Piano. Just looking at this building from the outside immediately captures the eye, so you know that what’s inside will truly blow your mind. Located on Peachtree Street in Midtown, this leading modern art museum will spark creativity and out-of-the-box thinking for only $14.50 and sometimes you can even find deals. Talk about budget friendly fun!
Atlanta Botanical Garden
If your visit falls onto the Spring season, a trip to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens will be one for the books. One adult admission ticket for the Atlanta Garden goes for $21.95, but children under 3 years old are free of charge. This will be a one stop shop for gorgeous nature views, stunning natural flower arrangements, and even an area to dine. Springtime is the best time to visit as the flowers just begin to bloom. Feel one with nature as you walk the lush paths of the garden surrounded by mother Earth. If you are looking for an even cheaper alternative, the Gainesville Garden is just as beautiful and half the price – with adult admission being only $8, and children 3 and under free. This will literally be a breath of fresh air after walking through the indoor museums. Just be sure to check the days and times they are open, and enjoy!
World of Coca-Cola
Are you one of those people that enjoys a refreshing Coke with every meal? I know I am. Have you ever wondered how it all started or how it was made? Well, if you come visit the World of Coca-Cola, you will get to discover all of the above. With adult admission tickets being $17, and $13 for youth, you get to walk around and explore different aspects of the one-of-a-kind soda brand known around the world. The building alone is gorgeous to look at from the outside, with a stunning view of the city of Atlanta right behind it. Inside, you can see the different advertisements that were shown in the first years of production, a room that shows how everything was bottled in a factory setting, and even a room where you can taste multiple different flavors produced by the Coca-Cola brand – which is at no extra charge if you already have an admission ticket. Then, when you are all finished exploring, come back by the entrance and take a photo at the designated photo backdrop. Don’t forget to visit the gift shops on the way out! You might even find some Coca-Cola products that you won’t find anywhere else.
Centennial Olympic Park
The Centennial Olympic Park is a 21 acre public park located in downtown Atlanta. Once being the home of the 1996 Olympic games, this area is now filled with gorgeous walking paths, pretty water gardens, and the well-known Fountain of Rings. It is a public park, which means it is free! If you are visiting with friends or family, this would be a perfect last stop for a relaxing stroll and some sightseeing. To make it even more memorable, pack some sandwiches, drinks, and utensils to have a nice picnic in the middle of the city. You won’t regret it.
